The Trouble with Good Intentions
Unintended Consequences of Well-Meaning Actions
We've all been there. We see a problem that seems like it should be easy to fix, so we take it upon ourselves to do it. But then, through no fault of our own, things start to go sideways and the simple task becomes a time-consuming nightmare.
A Case in Point
One classic example of this phenomenon is the well-meaning colleague who tries to help you by "improving" your work. Maybe they re-arrange your files, even though you had a very specific reason for how they were organized. Or they offer to help you write a report, even though you already had it under control and their writing style is completely different from yours.
In these cases, the person who is trying to help is usually coming from a good place. They want to make your life easier or they think they know a better way of doing something. But even when their intentions are good, their actions can sometimes end up causing more harm than good.
